Soulstice Day Spa at Silverstar Casino
  • jacuzzi

Tucked away a mere 28km from Fourways, I made my way to Soulstice Day Spa at Silverstar casino a few weeks ago.  It was a gorgeous and dramatic ‘African Skies’ kind of day, just look at this pic I took from my car on the way:

When I arrived at Silverstar for the very first time, I was immediately surprised at how pretty it is.  One gets quite used to the hustle and bustle of Fourways and the city rush, so to get to a venue that has everything the city has on offer, but just in a quieter setting, I couldn’t deny that it felt like the best of both worlds.

I met the Marketing Manager for a quick cup of coffee to catch up and then she gave me the tour of what’s been happening at Silverstar lately.  If you’ve been living under a rock, it might surprise you to know that Silverstar is currently undergoing a major transformation.  The construction site is breathtaking – and the workers give off an energy of excitement and determination.  Later this year, I can’t wait to go back and see all the hard work being paid off.  They’ll have an entirely new outdoor entertainment area, loads of new tenants and a few other tricks up their sleeve.

But that’s not what today’s post is about.  I want to tell you about a hidden little gem that I’ve come across.  The Soulstice Day Spa, right at Silverstar, right near their hotel, which has quickly become my new secret haven. The next time I need a break from the office, I’m inventing a reason to go back to Soulstice, it’s truly something else.

The minute I stepped into the spa, I could smell that amazing smell that only good spas have, the smell of relaxation, fresh air, and water with a hint of essential oils. Looking through the reception area, I immediately wanted to skip the paper work and just jump into the pool, clothes and all, and float on my back for a little while.  The person you see in these images is not me.  I grabbed them off the Soulstice Day website, I hope you don’t mind.

So there’s the beautiful pool, which I thought was so inviting, until I went around the corner and spotted something even better.  The Floatation Pool.

Soulstice Day Spa’s Floatation pool is the ideal way to relax. Apparently an hour of floatation therapy is equal to four hours of deep sleep. Yes please, I’d like some deep sleep, please! It’s in a darkened room, with music under the water, and twinkling lights in the ceiling, I imagined I was a mermaid and this was my very own little ocean.

The Amethyst Razul Chamber sounds like something out of the medieval times, but my skin couldn’t stop thanking me.  After being exfoliated with a kind of mud I wouldn’t mind being smeared with every week, I popped into the Razul Chamber to go rinse off.  The chamber can accommodate up to 5 people, which is great if you’re going with your friends.  They also have an outdoor Jacuzzi big enough for you and your girl friends.

I immediately regretted not bringing along my book, because how lovely it would have been if I’d been able to read a good book, sip on a cocktail or two, while lazing about on the… INDOOR WATER LOUNGER!

Or you could be like me and be indecisive and flop between this, and the indoor relaxation area.

What few people know, is that next to the spa is a dry bar – a beautiful lady on standby to get your dollied up for your big night out.  Of course, I wasn’t really going anywhere but Silverstar insisted I get the full treatment and before I knew it I was flat on my back getting a head massage while the talented beautician conditioned my roots.  I then experienced the most delightful hair dryer, with a special treatment to keep the frizz away.

Just as I thought I was done, the beautician whipped out her make up box and tilted her head in concentration while she decided which colours would suit me best.  Fifteen minutes later, she whirled my chair around to face the mirror, and I nearly fell off in surprise.  It was me, but better!  My skin was glowing, my hair was shining, my lips looked plump and I felt like a million bucks.  Just imagine how I strutted my stuff through the rest of Silverstar on my way out.

As far as I’m concerned, you should book out the whole day and just go laze about at the spa and then the dry bar before a big night out.  It’ll do yourself some good, and you’ll get back to the people in your life relaxed, floating on a cloud of tranquility.  Everyone wins!

I agree with everything the writer says but would like to add that their menu is fantastic as well. My daughter, granddaughter and I go there for a special treat whenever we can; I have yet to find something or somewhere that can beat it for a day’s fabulous relaxation and pampering! 10 out of 10 for everything!

I have been to spas around the world and the Soulstice spa is totally among the top with my favourite being the Balinese spa at Paradise Sun Seychelles. What I loved most about the Soulstice Spa is the special care they took of me when I was pregnant. Their treatments for mommas to be is a must and really a special treat!
