September is probably the month that most people look forward to more than any other month of the year. It’s the month to Spring Clean all of that ‘junk’ that has been hiding away in the cupboards, garage and shed over the past year. Most people tend to either throw things out or donate them to charities, libraries, schools, children- and old-age homes. Some – on the other hand – barely have much that they can donate as they always find some creative way to either recycle or repurpose the items they find in storage.
September is also a good time of year to spring clean the mind – to reflect on what has been achieved so far this year (and what has not – death by New Year’s resolutions). It is also an opportunity to take time out and pay a visit to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, Drakensberg Mountains or the tropical paradise of SUNCOAST Towers Hotel, just to clear the mind and realign one’s personal and professional objectives for the year.
Staying on the subject of running away and finding time for you; Tsogo Sun is running their SUNBreaks promotion – a 15% discount on bookings made 21 days in advance with two kids under the age of 18 enjoying a free breakfast. The SUNCOAST SPA is located within the hotel on the ninth floor and offers a sanctuary for the mind, body and soul as well as great views of the majestic Indian Ocean and vibrant Durban City skyline.
If your ideal way of relaxing and unwinding is strolling down the Durban promenade and looking for some local arts and culture, then make sure to catch our monthly Open Air Salsa dance classes. It’s an opportunity to add new steps to your repertoire with classes in the popular and electric dance styles of Salsa, Rueda, Bachata and Kazomba. Should dancing in public be too wild and out there for you then you can always catch some of Durban’s best local musical talent performing at SUNCOAST.
This month at our free monthly musical sessions, Sunday Beats, we have two performances from well-known, self-taught musician, Just Eddie and the extraordinary jazz band the 5th Season. What Sunday Beats offers is a great way to relax and unwind on a Sunday afternoon and jam to some great music. So if you are looking for something to do, pop on down to feel the beat with SUNCOAST.
The Sunflower Fund 5km fun run/walk also takes place on the last Saturday of September. It’s a great activity to do with the whole family and is for a great cause.
Laughter is definitely the best medicine – it is a proven medical fact that laughter relieves physical tension, stress and leaves your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after a good belly-laugh. So you will be glad to know that this month SUNCOAST has the likes of Sans Moonsamy, Muthu Murugan, Neville Pillay and more performing at The Great Big SA Indian Comedy Show. This production promises a weekend of nothing but hilarious stand-up comedy, sketches, dances and gut-busting laughter from one of South Africa’s most colourful communities.
If you are a frequent guest at our complex make sure to sign up for the SUNCOAST Rewards card – it is so quick and easy. The rewards card also lets you enjoy benefits such as earning points, saving and enjoying discounts from selected restaurants and on hotel stays, nationwide. All in all, September is going to be a blooming good month!
