“Dynamite comes in small packages” is definitely characteristic of Chandreshwar Singh, the newly appointed General Manager of our two new hotels in the Cape Town city centre. Raised in Umtata in the Eastern Cape Chan, as he is fondly called, is well suited to take on the challenge of leading the team of the new hotels, set to open in September 2017.
Chan, who moved to Cape Town with his wife and children in 2000 and started out by stocking and refilling the minibar has worked his way up the ladder from concierge, valet driver, receptionist, housekeeping, reservations, front office manager, to Assistant GM and now General Manager.
No stranger to our group or to Cape Town, Chan has had many exciting experiences at various hotels to date, including being a part of the team who hosted the players during the 2010 Soccer World Cup, as well as hosting the IPL teams when the IPL moved from India to South Africa.
This will be his first General Manager position and Chan describes it as a huge opportunity. He says “it’s something quite special to open a new hotel and I am humbled at being selected to do so.”
Having extensive experience in running hotel rooms, Chan is the perfect fit for this exciting development, right in the heart of Cape Town’s buzzing Bree street precinct.
The new hotels will include:
- A 202-bedroom latest design SunSquare Cape Town City Bowl
- A 302-bedroom new generation StayEasy Cape Town City Bowl
- 5 banqueting and conference venues, with the largest catering for up to 140 delegates
- Tsogo Sun’s trendy and fast growing casual dining offering Vigour & Verve
- A rooftop pool and bar with panoramic views
- Retail space
- Fitness centre
- Approximately 300 undercover parking bays
We wish Chan the best of luck in his role and look forward to sharing more of the developments of the new hotels in the coming months, so stay tuned.
