Silverstar Reloaded

On Friday night I decided to check myself and a special someone into Silverstar.  Because it’s the perfect getaway without driving for hours and hours outside of Joburg, but also because Silverstar has just relaunched itself and I wanted to get there before the official relaunch on the 13th of November and avoid the crowds.  Luckily for me, I got there before the launch, but not before the crowds.  The West of Joburg clearly talks, because it seemed like they’d been just waiting for their chance to have a look at the new entertainment section.  I don’t blame them.  We arrived just in time to get a late afternoon walk around before we checked into the (ultra mod) hotel, which is very contemporary and unique when you compare it to some of the other Tsogo Sun hotels I’ve stayed in (think: black and red with still life photography kind of decor).

Without me waffling, let me tell you guys, Silverstar is worth visiting, for these reasons:

The new interactive fountain, where kids are encouraged to play:

The old fountain which has been refurbed and brought back to life:

The giant outdoor screen which I can already see myself watching the next big game on:

The very unique Publicity, a Tsogo Sun bar concept that offers craft beer on tap, an outdoor smoke-house which offers buffets on weekends, targeted towards families and friends who are looking for a comfortable and relaxed environment, in or outdoors:

The Soulstice Day Spa (which I have written about previously here):

The Globe, (which is opening with Trevor Noah on the 13th November, beeteedubs!):

The new kiddies section, including a ten-pin bowling alley, laser-tag and movie house:

I think we can all agree, for the West Rand, Silverstar is definitely the place to be!
