Can you believe that we are in November already, the second last month of 2016? That means that exams have started and will soon be finished, kids will be on holiday and you – as the parent – will have to find something to keep them entertained. The festive season is also practically knocking on the front door… Christmas gifts, shopping, cooking, hosting, cleaning… the list is endless.
As American comedian, musician, actor, television and radio host Henry Rollins once said, “The month of November makes me feel that life is passing more quickly. In an effort to slow it down, I try to fill the hours more meaningfully,” and that’s the important part! We so often let life get the better of us, with every day deadlines, tasks, errands and a multitude of distractions that we often forget to take a breather and enjoy that little moment, whether it be with family, a loved one or simply alone.
Luckily it’s not all doom and gloom, as the city of Durban and Suncoast are – as always – abuzz with exciting entertainment. A whole host of holidaymakers from various parts of the country, along with African and international tourists have descended on our town. One of the biggest and most talked-about events of this year for our city is the Essence Festival Durban, which will be bringing some of America’s biggest names in music, business and entertainment to our shores.
On the musical front the city also welcomes UB40 – world-renowned British reggae and pop band – who will be performing at the Durban Botanic Gardens (on 10 November). This is sure to be a treat for lovers of reggae. If your taste is more on the local front, you can always catch SUNCOAST’s free Sunday Beats sessions which this month will be featuring the infectious and boisterous Chico Muya and Llewelyn Chetty.
If you are more hands-on, our Open Air Salsa classes are a sure hit, as the dance experts of the Red Salsa team teach guests and passers-by how to master the sensual Latin-inspired dances of Salsa, Bachata, Rueda and Kazomba. If you are looking for a more exclusive and pampering activity, you’ll be glad to know that the Suncoast Spa is offering fantastic November Spa Spoils that are pleasing to the body and the wallet.
Story Hour was launched in October to keep the kiddies (4 to 11 years) entertained. This fun-filled and interactive storytelling experience is hosted by Durban’s finest storytellers, Sally Garrioch and Kasia Vosloo. Movie fun can also be found at Suncoast CineCentre where an array of family-friendly films is on circuit this month. Included in the list of new releases to be screened are Storks, Trolls and Doctor Strange.
Our latest gaming promotion, Hot Pursuit, is bound to keep you entertained with a high-speed chase for R4 Million in cars, cash and FreePlay to be won which include the new VW Golf 7 Club Sport, Golf 7 GTI and Polo TSI. This promotion is exclusive to SUNCOAST rewards cardholders. Not a Suncoast rewards cardholder yet, well signing up is simple and can be done at our Guest Services Desk.
